Ilam province is one of the provinces of Iran, which is located in the west of this country and in mountainous and semi-warm regions. This province is one of the more or less forested provinces of Iran. The north of the province has a mountainous climate, but in the south of the province there are vast plains. The capital of this province is Ilam city. This province is bordered by Iraq to the west, Khuzestan province to the south, Lorestan province to the east and Kermanshah province to the north. More than 90% of the oil and gas resources in the west of the country and 11% of the known oil and gas resources of Iran are located in Ilam province. Also, this province is in the second place of oil resources and the third place of gas resources of the country. This province, along with Khuzestan province, has the longest international border with Iraq.
