It is also known as the Forty Pillars Palace or the Forty Pillars Museum Garden. In fact, this garden is a small part of the vast garden of the world, which Shah Abbas I built the first forty-column palace by building a pavilion in the middle of it. This historical heritage is one of the most famous and popular sights of Isfahan, which despite the damage, still has stunning beauties to offer to tourists and visitors.
The Narenjestan Garden of Ghavam, known as the Gardens of Ghavam, the Garden of the Museum of Narenjestan and the Garden of Ghavam al-Mulk, was built between 1257 and 1267 A.D. during the reign of Nasser al-Din Shah Qajar, by order of Ali Mohammad Khan Ghavam. The garden consists of two parts, the exterior (Narenjestan Museum) and the interior (Zinat al-Muluk House), which are connected by a tunnel. The building was used as a seat of government or a place for political and military affairs and meeting with representatives of foreign governments. In 1345, the Narenjestan building was donated to Shiraz University, and between 1348 and 1358 it was owned by the Asian Institute, under the supervision of Professor Arthur Opham Pope, a famous Iranian scholar. The area of the complex is 3500 square meters and its buildings, which are located on the north and south sides, have an infrastructure of 940 square meters.
