Naqsh-e Jahan Square is the central square of Isfahan, which is located in the heart of the Naqsh-e Jahan historical complex.
Naqsh-e Jahan Square is a rectangular square 560 meters long and 160 meters wide (440 feet long and 160 feet wide. It is located in the center of Isfahan. Before the city of Isfahan was chosen as the capital of Safavid Iran, there was a large garden called “Naqsh-e Jahan” in this square. This garden is also the location of government buildings and the palace of rulers. It was the Timurids and Aghquyunlus, and at that time the square part of the garden was called “Dar Kushk”, which was located on the western side of the present-day Naqsh-e Jahan Square on the site of the construction of the Aali Qapo Palace. The name of the square was “Kushkak” and also some official rituals such as Nowruz celebration have been held since the beginning of the reign of Shah Abbas I, the surface of the square has been leveled in a much larger size than the former Kushkak square and lighting and fireworks have been held many times. Various sources date the building to its current form during the reign of Shah Abbas I and to S. They have known the 1011 lunar month. Mohammad Reza and Ali Akbar Isfahani are the names of two architects who designed the square and built it in its current form. The names of these two architects can be seen on the entrances of the buildings around the square.
In the design of this square, the former Atiq square in Isfahan was modeled.
