El Goli is located in the city of Tabriz and this city also has a relatively cold climate on most days of the year due to being mountainous. Of course, the cold winters of this city are also very famous; But in summer and most of the spring days, the weather in this area is balanced and tourists can have a good time there. The average annual rainfall in this city is 310 mm and 104 days a year the weather in this city is icy.
El Goli Garden is located in the main part of Tabriz, seven kilometers from the city center, and is currently a great place to relax and have fun. In Turkish, (gol) means pool and Shah Goli or El Goli means king’s pool. Of course, this place was originally called Shah Goli and after the revolution it was renamed El Goli.
El Goli is located almost in the main part of the city and for this reason it is close to the main sights of Tabriz.
Shah Goli means the king’s pool, and this place was originally a pool that was created in the time of the Agh Quyunlus and expanded during the Safavid period. Before the Safavids came to power, this pool was the largest source of water storage for irrigating the gardens of East Tabriz. The Safavids emptied the rubbish, sand and gravel of this pool and built a wall around it. The pool was 12 meters deep at the time. During the Qajar period, paths were created around this pool and Tabrizi trees and Majnoon willow were planted around this place to decorate and turn it into a promenade.
During the Pahlavi period, this place was handed over to the municipality to turn it into a public promenade, and it was at this time that the first major repairs were made to the place. At present, this pool has dimensions of about 200 by 200 meters, the depth of which varies from 3 meters to 9 meters in the eastern corner at the side of the mouth. Of course, in the past, the size of the pool was larger and the floor was natural; But now, due to the creation of a garden around it, its dimensions have been reduced to some extent.
El Goli Lake is one of the most important elements that has made this complex one of the most famous places of interest in East Azerbaijan Province. The water of El Goli Lake is supplied by one of the Liqvan rivers, which passes near the village of Chavan, and enters it in the form of a stream from the southeast side of the lake. In winter, the water of the lake freezes and gives a different view to its surroundings. During this time, the fish that live in the water can not reach the upper part of the water, and as a result, their growth process becomes slower.
In front of El Goli Lake, there is a relatively large hill that is completely planted with trees and has a remarkable beauty. The main thing that attracts attention in spring and summer in this park is the beautiful flowers that can be seen in different parts of the park.
In the middle of El Goli pool, there is an octagonal and two-storey building known as El Goli mansion or palace. This building is currently used as a restaurant. Of course, the current structure of this building is not the same as its original structure. El Goli Palace was initially made of brick and then demolished and replaced by a new building. The eighth son of Abbas Mirza, named Mirza’s hero, expanded this building and turned it into a royal promenade for Qajar courtiers.
There is a path in the middle of El Goli pool, the end of which connects to this building, and in fact, the mentioned emirate is located in the middle of the pool, as a peninsula, which adds to its interesting feeling and mood.
