One of the unique masterpieces in the field of architecture in the history of Iranian life is the land of Vakil Mosque in Shiraz. This masterpiece of architecture or historical monument has a shorter history compared to other historical monuments in Iran. Vakil Mosque is one of the relics of Zandieh era. In fact, during the Zandieh period, Karim Khan Zand Karim Khan Zand ordered the construction of a large collection of lawyers. According to the order of Karim Khan Zand, Vakil Bath, Vakil Bazaar and Vakil Mosque were built.
As the name of the mosque suggests, Vakil Mosque was built in Fars province and in Shiraz. This architectural masterpiece is located right in the center of Shiraz, in the Darb-e-Shahzadeh neighborhood, on Ayatollah Taleghani Street. I should also add that the Vakil Mosque is located exactly between the Vakil Bath and the Vakil Bazaar. The location of Vakil Bath, Bazaar and Mosque in one area has caused these three historical monuments to be known as Vakil Complex. Vakil Mosque in Shiraz is also called Soltani Vakil Mosque. This historic mosque is located in the western part of Vakil Bazaar and at the end of the Bazaar Swordsmen line. Vakil Mosque has a relatively large area and is considered unrivaled among its peers in terms of decoration and architectural elegance.
Many relics have been left from the short but important reign of Karim Khan Zand. These are the monuments of many buildings and mansions that are now considered the precious heritage of Iran. These monuments are known not only in beautiful Iran but all over the world. This mosque is a masterpiece in terms of architecture and it is painful in terms of various carvings and designs that have been engraved on it. The inscriptions written on Vakil Mosque can be seen with three lines of Nasta’liq, Thals and Naskh, all of which are among the valuable and eye-catching lines. Also, this large mansion has a very pleasant and spectacular variety in tiling, so that the variety of colors and gloss in these tiles deprives visitors of authority and forces the language to praise and glorify.
One of the factors that has been observed in the architecture of this mosque and has given a unique shine to the beauty and splendor of this mansion is the presence and presence of 48 spectacular and astonishing columns in this vast mosque. These columns have an exemplary charm due to the carvings, ie artistic stonework, and along with their special splendor and charm, they have also taken on the serious responsibility of maintaining the ornate and spectacular roof of the nave.
In the northern part of Vakil Shiraz Mosque, you will see two tiled wreaths, 20 meters high and 12 meters wide. These two tall and high garlands belong to the pearl arch. The tasteful architects and designers who built the Pearl Arch have placed three small arches in each of the four parts of the arch, along with a king. The builders of this magnificent mansion have created one of these arches as the entrance to the courtyard of the mosque and the other three arches as a wide portico that covers 5 meters.
In the southern and eastern parts of Vakil Mosque in Shiraz, there are two porches and two naves. In the southern part of the mosque, the arch is perfectly symmetrical with the pearl arch. Just below this arch is the large nave of the mosque. The area of this nave is estimated at about 5,000 square meters. The forty-eight columns are also in the same nave. This nave is completely covered with marble in the floor. I should also add that the pulpit of Vakil Mosque has 14 steps and all these 14 steps are made of marble. The presence of this marble pulpit has added to the brightness and radiance of the nave thousands of times.
