There is a tower in the tomb of Pir Alamdar Damghan, which has unique characteristics in terms of architecture. Pir Alamdar Tower is one of the circular brick towers with a conical onion dome, of which there are about fifty such towers in Iran. In terms of age, this tower is the oldest tower in Iran after Qaboos Dome Tower in Gorgan.
Pir Alamdar
This historical building is the tomb of one of the rulers of the Al-Ziyar regime, named Bakhtiar, who, according to one of the inscriptions in this palace, was built by Haji Hossein, known as Damghani, by order of Bakhtiar in 417 AH, after the death of his father.
This tower has a height of 13 meters and a dome with an internal diameter of 4.5 meters, that is one of the first buildings in which a brick relief is used to remove the facade of the building from uniform and uniform ridges.
The lower part, which includes half of the total height of the tower. This part has fine, simple brickwork and no ties. Also, the entrance gate of the tower along with its decorations is located in this section.
The upper part consists of seven bands of brick-cut belt decoration, along with a beautiful inscription under the projection of the upper level of the wall, which has made the dome famous. This is the protrusion of the structure that held the dome.
In this mausoleum, there are three series of inscriptions, namely the outer inscription of the dome, the inner inscription of the dome and the inscription at the head of the dome, each of these inscriptions tell many facts about their designers and builders.
Around the exterior of the dome is a beautiful inscription with a simple mesh kufi line 75 cm wide, in which cut bricks are used on a plaster background. The outer inscription of the dome is the same inscription that mentions the year of construction, the details of the builder, the details of the person who ordered the construction, and the details of the person buried in this place.
On the inner wall of the building, an inscription with meshed Kufic script of the mahshi type (with a border) knotted with a width of 80 cm is installed above the door and it is a type of painting on a plaster background, in which verses from the Holy Quran are beautifully defined.
Knotted Mahshi Kufi script is one of the types of Kufi script which has surprising knots in its vertical letters such as Al and Lam.
At the top of the headstone at the entrance to the mausoleum, there is a line of inscriptions in simple Kufic script of the plaster type with the honorable verse of Bismillah.
