Hormozgan province has various attractions, most of which are located in Kish and Qeshm. Among the most famous sights in Qeshm is kharbas Cave. This cave, located 15 kilometers from Qeshm, has a mysterious past. A past that cannot be definitively commented on yet

Kharbas  cave, which dates back to the Medes period, is the result of the folds of the Zagros mountains. This cave has a strange and mysterious architecture and is surrounded by tall and short coral hills. The structure of the cave is considered similar to the crypts of Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, Lorestan, Bushehr, Ahvaz and Shushtar.

The height of the rocky walls of Kharbas  Cave is 20 to 30 meters. The reason for the formation of these caves is due to the subsidence of sea water inside the mountain and the creation of nesting holes. Also, over time, people have given it a special shape and made carvings on it.

In recent years, new corridors and corridors have been created on the right side inside the cave of stone carving artists to be a new pattern for identifying the main caves. Inside these new corridors and atriums, designs similar to ancient designs have been carved so as not to harm its authenticity.

Khorbs cave, which is one of the tourist attractions of Hormozgan province, is located 15 kilometers south of Qeshm and on the right side of Qeshm road to Khorbs village and Ramchah village.

The entrance of Kharbas  cave consists of 9 openings. Behind these openings, there is a hall where two small niches with light can be seen. Inside the cave, there are many halls, corridors, rooms, fountains and openings that are connected. These rooms and halls have dimensions of about 4 x 5.5 meters. There is also a pond at the bottom of the mouth of the cave, which is used to store rainwater, and it is always full of water during the rainy days of the year.

There are many theories about the people of this region in the past and the use of Kharbas  cave.

Some say that in the Medes era, this cave was used as a place of worship for Mehr and Goddess Mitra. It is also said that the cave hall was used for commemorating the dead.

Another tradition says that after the people of this region became followers of Zoroastrian religion, they used it as “teachers”; It means the place where the bones of the dead are kept in Zoroastrianism.

There is another theory based on which Kharbas  cave was a shelter for defenseless people who were attacked by pirates in the past. They had dug holes in the cave so that children, women and the elderly could take shelter there in times of danger. Also, they put water, food and stones in this cave to throw and defend themselves, and young men also went to fight the invaders.

Mouse-tailed bats live in the bottom holes and dark corners of the cave. Experts say that the generation of this type of bat is becoming extinct; But fortunately, these bats are safe in Kharbas  cave.
