Ovan Lake is located in the village of Moallem Kalayeh in the Rudbar section of Alamut in Qazvin province. This lake is located in the northern half of Alamut, at the foot of Khoshchal mountain, 75 km northeast of Qazvin city and among the four villages of Evan, Verin, Zavar Dasht and Zarabad of Qazvin province. This lake, that is known as the jewel of Alamut, is one of the beauties of this region, that is one of the most important sights of Qazvin next to Alamut Castle.
Ovan Lake with a beautiful and unique view is one of the sights of Qazvin province that is located between the four villages of “Evan”, “Varin”, “Zavardasht” and “Zarabad”. Avan means a tub full of water and a gathering place for water. The lake has an area of more than 70,000 square meters and its depth reaches about 6 meters in the deepest part. The lake does not receive water directly from its external environment and its only source of water is rainfall and springs at the bottom of the lake. Also, a small river is formed from the overflow of the lake, the water of which is used by the farmers of Kushkak and Ain villages.
If you look at the lake from the top of the surrounding mountains, you will see Evan surrounded by beautiful vegetation. Plants that extend to the foot of high mountains around the lake and solid mountains surround it like a jewel.
Around Ovan Lake, tree species such as willow, sycamore, Tabrizi, apple, cherry, cherry, elm, hazelnut and walnut; there are herbaceous plants such as astragalus, artichoke, licorice. In addition, various other species of the Gramineae and Leguminous families are also found in the Evan watershed. Among the plants in the lake, we can mention reeds in water (phararmites australis), fragrant plants (potamageton crispus) and blue fork (ceratophylum demersum). Evan wildlife also includes whole goats, which have been significantly reduced due to overhunting and habitat destruction. Leopards, brown bears, foxes, jackals, wolves, hogs, shengs, lynx or feral cats, eagles, slabs, delicacies, hawks, owls, partridges, cuckoos, woodpeckers, greyhounds, crows and sparrows, frogs, turtles , Crabs and…. A variety of fish, including colorful trout, carp and duck, also live in the lake.
